U/D: Monticello, Kaufman Colony Removes Controversial Sewer Line

    2

Kaufman’s Bungalow colony removed a controversial sewer line Friday that was built up to 12 feet above the ground along Benmosche Road.
The Town Board had given the colony until noon Friday to remove the line near the Monticello Raceway.
Thompson Supervisor said that the colony is still in hot water with the town and the state Health Department. People had moved into some of the 50 bungalows before the town had approved them for occupancy. The colony hooked up the sewer line July 15. The board had agreed to a temporary line but expected it would be built along the ground, not propped up by two-by-fours planted in large mounds of dirt and running alongside the road.
