Negotiations for a new villiage, fell apart between the Town of Thompson and leaders of Viznitz Chasidic group that wants to form a village between Monticello and South Fallsburg on Gibber Road.
Thompson Supervisor said he expects a petition hearing to go forward on Sept. 7. He has been wheeling and dealing to get the group to drop the idea, because he doesn’t want the town to lose control of zoning within the village limits. “Nothing has happened all week,” he said. “I would like something to happen, but enough is enough.
