Danvers – Vandals Drive Over Gravestones In Old Cemetery

Danvers, Massachusetts – Vandals crashed into about 20 gravestones in an old Jewish cemetery of Congregation Sons of Jacob, off Route 114, toppling and smashing family markers that date back more than a century.

According to Dave McKenna, superintendent of the cemetery complex, the estimated damage is at $10,000 to $15,000.

Congregation Sons of Jacob, is an Orthodox Jewish congregation, and was formed in 1898 in Salem by immigrants from Lithuania, Poland and Russia.
