New York – Gov. Pataki, still in the hospital 13 days after an emergency appendectomy, is receiving intravenous antibiotics because he’s now at risk of developing an abscess.and Pataki, who is being treated at New York Presbyterian Hospital, has experienced only “a slow return of normal digestive function” and, as a result, “is eating small amounts of food, but remains on intravenous nutrition.” The possibility that Pataki would develop an abscess, a localized collection of pus formed by tissue disintegration and surrounded by an inflamed area, and a date has not been set for the governor to be discharge and doctors will continue evaluate the governor on a daily basis.
