Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY – A postman assigned to the Vanderveer post office in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn for eight years, was arrested for stealing mail, after firefighters discovered hundreds of undelivered letters smoldering in his boarded-up Brooklyn apartment.

Gregory Mewborn, 47, was nabbed while on his route at around 11 a.m. by federal postal investigators, who questioned him about 10 bags of postmarked mail dating to 2002. Firefighters were called to the building at 4120 Clarendon Road, where police said they found burned mail and lighter fluid.
