Woodbury – A one-car crash on Route 17 yesterday sent two people to the hospital by helicopter, choking traffic in both directions for about an hour.
Around 5 p.m., a blue Kia Sorrento heading west on Route 17 veered into the median. Witnesses told police the vehicle then “tumbled” for about 200 feet before stopping on the eastbound shoulder.
The vehicles’ occupants, described as a middle-aged couple, were flown by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla with head and chest injuries. State police did not release their names but said they were listed in stable condition last night.
