St. Louis, MO – Mistaken Synagogue Sale is Rescinded by Judge

St. Louis, MO – Judge Thomas C. Grady of the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court set aside the mistaken sale of the Central Congregation Synagogue.

A clerical mix-up stemming from back taxes owed on a house belonging to the synagogue, led to the auctioning of the synagogue building itself for $11,800 at 5020 Waterman Boulevard.
The St. Louis Sheriff’s Department was ordered to refund Theodore V. Haynes II the $11,800 he paid for the $4.5 million synagogue in a public auction last month. “The (city’s) attorney saw this through and corrected the error and we’re pleased,” said Sheila Greenbaum, an attorney for the synagogue.
