Scranton, PA – Three months after the Scranton School Board agreed to sell the former East Scranton Intermediate School to a rabbi from Brooklyn, N.Y., it is still awaiting documentation from the prospective buyer to move ahead with the deal.

Some board members are getting impatient. The board voted unanimously Aug. 28 to sell the Quincy Avenue property to Rabbi Alter Rosenbaum for $400,000. The rabbi is the leader of a Nadvorna Hasidic community that wants to use the building as a school for families that would relocate to the city from Brooklyn. Under the pending agreement of sale, Rabbi Rosenbaum is required to provide the district with two appraisals for the property.
As of late last week, only one had been submitted, but a second appraiser has examined the building and has not yet prepared a formal report.
HALF BAKED idea that does not appear to be going anywhere.
dear ralph: were are we going to get jobes thats no 1 and its 130 miles from nyc in rush hour it taks more than 3 hours to get to nyc

It is unfurtonate that while the Rabbi has good intentions, people just don’t get it , the cost of living in Scranton is next to nothing , 5 Bedroom apartment you can rent for 600.00$ , energy bills are 30% cheaper than in NY , its just ashame how stupid People are ,
there is allraedy a nice Litvishe Community there for the longest time Ever , a heimishe Grocery store is There fresh food being deliverd every day from Brooklyn
the Weather a mechaye in the summer , I just dont get how stupid we can be and not taking a rear oppurtunity to leave once and for all Brooklyn with an averege of 3000$ mortgage bill a month , and get a Palace with at least 1acre and a half for that Price

While that may be true, there is another offer on the table. And as heard from a board member they “are considering it very seriously”
