Kiryas Joel, Monroe, NY – The village of Kiryas Joel is seeking federal funds to build two parking lots for municipal and school buses beside Route 17 near the village entrance.

Officials have applied for a $390,000 grant to build the facilities on 3.6 acres of state-owned land in the Town of Monroe, the total project cost is $850,000.
The lots — one on each side of the Forest Road overpass — would be surrounded by chain-link fences and could hold up to 169 vehicles, plus above-ground fuel storage tanks.
Meanwhile, a private bus company that travels between Brooklyn and Kiryas Joel is applying for a $516,000 grant through the same federal program to expand its Forest Road lot, which is next to the property where Kiryas Joel wants to build its lots.
If KJ can get fed funds legally, they would remiss if they did not. If you think they’re not deserving, go to your representatives & have them change they’re rules. That’s the way they USA govt works…

Why should all the money go to Louisiana (katrina) etc etc ?? We are as entitled as anybody else under the law!!

WHy is it that the people who do pay income taxes continue to pay taxes while those who pay zip get all. Can someone explain this to me?
I am gratified that Uncle Sam dispenses some of his vast fortunes on real charitable deeds as opposed to all the “pork barrel” schemes that frequent government politicians on a regular basis.
