Long Beach, CA – Bomb Squad Called To Synagogue For Strange Device

Long Beach, CA – The sheriff's bomb squad was requested to the Long Beach synagogue, where a briefcase with a possible "suspicious" device was found, but no explosives were found.

The device was found in front of Temple Israel at 3538 E. Third St. between the synagogue and an apartment building, said Officer Nancy Pratt of the Long Beach Police Department.
As a precaution, the sheriff's bomb squad was called in and an area about the size of a city block was evacuated, until it was determined the briefcase did not contain anything explosive.

As of now it isn't clear what was actually in the briefcase. [CBS]
