Brooklyn, NY – Kings County jurors now have the longest time off between stints of any borough, thanks to ongoing reforms that have also added a swanky new jury room at Brooklyn Supreme Court that opened in May.

Jurors in Kings County who have served since January won’t have to return again for eight years — while jurors in Manhattan and the other boroughs get only six years off.
Jury-phobes across the borough can thank Kings County Clerk and Commissioner of Jurors Nancy Sunshine for many of the changes — as well as for the plasma TVs, Internet terminals and fancy bathrooms in the new central jury room at the old Brooklyn Supreme Courthouse.
“It’s not exactly a five-star hotel, but it’s not like being in a Rikers cell anymore, either,” quipped Councilman Simcha Felder (D-Borough Park), who was called up last week [as reported at Vos Iz Neias] but wasn’t chosen for a trial. “I was expecting my last experience, which was horrible.
“It used to be like some sort of torture chamber,” Felder added. “Now they’ve made it as comfortable as can be. I was impressed.” [nydailynews]
Yup it really did get a lot better then it was. New a/c and new seats. Best of all the eight years off!
