Officials said yesterday that those who got tickets for alternate-side parking violations in the 66th, 68th, 70th and 72nd precincts from Aug. 8-10 do not have to contest them because they will be automatically dismissed.

Residents who have paid the tickets will get refunds. [nypost]

They’ll dismiss the tickets for street cleaning rules. Double parking is a separate issue, as far as the department is concerned. They claim it’s illegal in the first place, although officers are supposed to overlook it under certain conditions when there’s alternate side parking.
While it won’t be dismissed automatically, you can try to have it dismissed based on the fact that you were doing your civic duty of allowing the streets to be cleaned, or something like that.
    Good luck!
