Brooklyn, NY – A petition to save Coney Island's Astroland Park, or at least keep it open for one more season, is circulating in Brooklyn and will be sent to city officials including Mayor Bloomberg and Borough President Marty Markowitz.

Expected to close for good on Sept. 9, the 45-year-old amusement park was sold to developer Thor Equities last year, but some want the fun-plex to stay open.
"While change may be inevitable, there is no need to rush Astroland's passage into history," said petition organizer, former Community Board 13 chairman Brian Gottlieb.
I thing the cyclone is safe because it has been landmarked.
Grew up in Coney Island, loved steeple chase and the parachute ride, and sand in the face and hair at the end of the end. As long as they leave the Cyclone alone, astroland never grabbed my fancy.

What is so chasuv about Astroland, a waste of money, go to one of the lovely Brooklyn parks or walk on the board walk.
