The group met with law enforcement experts and officials from the Anti-Defamation League, which co-sponsors the conference, along with Boca Raton police, the Jewish Federation and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Police talked about how to handle threats such as bomb scares and suspicious packages, as well as emergency planning, security and locally based hate groups.

Andrew Rosenkranz, Florida regional director for the Anti-Defamation League, talked to participants about the threats posed by local hate groups. He said South Florida’s diversity also means a number of ethnic and religious groups could be targeted here.

“Unfortunately, security is something that has to be part of our culture,” Rosenkranz said. “Security is now a ritual.” [Palm Beach Post]
