Manhattan, NY – A small explosive device was set off outside a building on West 29th Street early this morning. Police said there was minor damage and no injuries.
Tenants of the five-story building at 257 West 29th Street and 8th Avnue were evacuated as a precaution.

NYPD ESU, NYPD Bomb Squad detectives along with other police and fire department personnel are all on the scene collecting pieces of the device to determine what materials were used to make the explosive, ESU LT ordered radio silence all transmissions to be made over landline with no info over the air, possible 2nd device on location.
One official described the device as a small pipe bomb.
Investigators said they do not know the motive for the incident or if the building or anyone who lives or works there was a target, the only damage was to a vehicle parked outside the location.
Officials say the explosion is not terror-related.
