The government recently announced that its ministers would part with their Swedish Volvos after German car makers Skoda and Audi won the tender to provide the officials with new cars.

In response, Cohen is calling on all government ministers to refuse to drive German cars out of respect for the Holocaust and in light of what he said was a new wave of people who deny the Holocaust took place. [haaretz]

I’m the 5th generation in America. Although my grandmother is not a holocaust survivor, she refuses to buy anything made in germany whether appliances such made by bosch, braun.. or clothing. She won’t take a polish cleaning lady either because of their anti semitism during the war.

It’s sad to see how some survivors and their children will look to buy things specifically from these companies.

I just want to say how much I love the comment by the person who calls everyone else an “idiot” if they by a product made by a german owned company. And how he then goes on to say that, “If this was a matter of life and death that you NEED this farshtukneh car ASK A ROV FIRST!”

If it’s a matter of life and death, any Torah educated jew then would know that this is not something one would have to ask a rav about first. It is a matter of “Life and Death”, and not one of the 3 things you must be Moser Nefesh for.

All I can say is that I would be very scared to be stuck in a life and death situation with him.

No . The Holocaust denial crowd can be found all over the world. Most germans today are not deniers.
I wish there’d be a call to boycott British products because of their trade union boycott of Israeli scientists and researchers. The British press with the BBC in the lead are notorious anti-Semites , so why not start there? SAY NO TO ENGLISH TOURISM AND PRODUCTS.!!

    To the Editor:

This is an old “machlokes” and Menchem Begin, a”h, lost the argument even though he mustered hundreds of thousands of Jews at a rally in Tel Aviv against receiving reparations-he called it blood money-back in the early 50s. I am not sure if this will fly in Israel where much of the economy became saturated with German goods early on in the history of the State (don’t we all remember all the Mercedes sherutim?), more than half the people come from Eidot Hamizrach and the young people can’t relate. I see it in my own family. I am a fourth generation in America. My father and two uncles were in uniform in WWII, I cringe at even touching anything german (lower case on purpose) but my children argue that with globalization, the VW and other german cars are now made here in the Good old USA.
