New York – NYS Senate GOP leader Joe Bruno told Albany radio station WROW that the Assembly should have been in session Sept. 25-27 because they "weren't holy days for the Jewish population or the people in that religion or anyone else."

A spokesman for Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver charged Bruno with lobbing "offensive comments regarding religious holidays."

Based on my experience, better class Italian people are respectful of other religions. Bruno either forgot the holiday or is not better class.
One should not judge italian people based on experiences in Brooklyn, the Italians in general look down on the Sicilians as being very low class.
Did Bruno forget that the Senate doesn’t work during Christmas week — all normal days — except for Christmas Day and New Years Day.

I realize that it is easy to forget when you live in Brooklyn, but I PROMISE you, it is a Christian nation and anti Semitism is not the exception but the norm.
As my grandmother has always said (until 120)”they love you while they think they can convert you and then they just want to kill you”.
I have yet to see an exception to this rule. The only “friends of the Jews” are other Jews.

Not at all surprised that the Republican leader of the Assembly showed such insensitivity. But one would think that after working with Shelly Silver for so many years he’d remember that Succos follows Rosh Hashonah and Yom Kippur. I also think his comment was a jab at Silver.

But I am pleased to hear someone suggest, for a change, that the NY State Assembly should be working. They haven’t done much of that for quite some time now!
