New York – A fatal staph infection is racing through the public school system, infecting students in many states, including New York. The infection has already claimed a 17-year-old in Virginia as its victim, when he died suddenly earlier this week from the MRSA – as this invasive form of staph is known. MRSA differs from the typical Staph infection, as it’s resistant to some antibiotics.
All Staph infections can be contracted through casual contact, nearly 1/3 of people are carriers.
The NY Department of Health has just reported to VIN News that there are no reported cases in NYC itself, although the city was warned to be on the lookout. There are however, two confirmed diagnoses in upstate New York.
All of our school need to be aware and protect themselves against this dangerous Superbug. also make sure all Kids follow The following are steps people can take to prevent infection:
1. Keep hands clean by washing thoroughly with soap and water or
using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
2. Keep cuts and scrapes clean and covered with a bandage until
healed.
3. Avoid contact with other people’s wounds or bandages.
4. Avoid sharing personal items such as towels or razors.

Tell the idiot parents who in general send their kids to school when knowingly the kids are sick.
As a teacher I asked a parent last week why she sent her kids to school when they were sick and the stupid response was ” I have work”….
To all idiot parents that send their kids to school when they are sick let me tell you something on behalf of all the teachers I work with.
Your self centered. You also cause other kids to get sick because of your stupidity.
According to many rabonim it is also geneivah because your causing other parents to lose THEIR time and money. I can go on with many other reasons but I will leave it to the other bloggers. I’m sure evryone will agree with the teachers on this issue.
PS: Always use anti bacterial soap when leaving the bathroom, train getting to work, from work etc.
In England, according to a Manchester new blog it is being successfully treated via the following:
50ml water, add 3 drops tea tree, 2 drops lavender and 2 drops geranium. Swab the wound 3 or 4 times a day with this mix, make a new mix each time. These are gentle oils but they kill staphylococcus, which causes MRSA. It is also useful to make a mix of 50 ml sweet almond oil, with the same drops, and use this to massage onto areas not open wound- the oils will go in the bloodstream, and help to fight the bacteria.
I don’t know if this is helpful or not, but my baby picked up a staph infection all over her back and chest in the hospital and my midwife told me to wash it and my own hands with Ivory Dish soap.
As crazy as that sounds, she said it kills staph and for us it worked.
Whichever way you wash your hands, do it right. Don’t take shortcuts. It’s important to lather up properly, without skimping on it. And use disposable towels rather than communal towls.
And teach your kids to do the same. They learn best by good example.
To comment #1 , it is resistant to anti bacterial soap. There are those opinions that the anti bacterial soap actually CAUSES the infections to develop. A-Bact soap kills 99% of germs (read the label). This means that you created a situation where 1% of the germs persevered and emerged even stronger. This is dangerous. people should NOT be routinely using anti bact soap – you are creating a very powerful and resistant 1%!
What people SHOULD do is use good handwashing techniques (lather it up) with REGULAR soap.
Actually, this has been around in NYC for almost 2 years not – if not more. B”H most of the cases involve skin or soft tissue infections. They look almost like blisters from cigarette burns when they are new, then as they are getting a bit older they look like spider bites.
Hashem should protect us all.
schools and shules and restaurants should post proper handwashing techniques. they should have soap with anti bacterial disenfectant too.
