Israel – Israel Police Nab Two Men Suspected Of Kidnapping German Immigrant.

    Tel Aviv – Israel police have arrested two men suspected of kidnapping a German immigrant to Israel and holding him for two weeks until a ransom was paid, a police spokesman said Tuesday, after a gag order on the affair was lifted. Spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld could not reveal any details about the identity of the kidnapped man, but said he was snatched in February and held until his family in Germany paid 320,000 dollars for his release.

    During his ordeal he was held in Tel Aviv and then Jerusalem and was beaten and subjected to other forms of physical and psychological violence.

    The two suspects in the case – Erez Dahan, 43, from Jerusalem, Jerusalem, and Yossi Peleg, 48, from the Tel Aviv area, were arrested several weeks ago.

    The investigation was still ongoing, and more arrests were expected.

    The kidnapped man filed a complaint with the police after his release, and the investigation into the affair was kept under wraps. [dpa]
