Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY – NYPD of the 90th Pct responded to reports of an off-duty member of the FDNY who recklessly drove through a large crowd at a funeral procession on the street near the Satmar synagogue at 14 Hooper Street at Kent Avenue and Williamsburg Street West.
The off-duty firefighter drove through the closed street and the crowd went running for safety but one female was struck and injured and was being treated by Hatzolah, the firefighter fled the scene of the accident. NYPD and Bat. Chief on scene investigating.
You have to be kidding me.
Some person describes this person as “these folks”.
I agree an investigation is due but expressions like “these people or folks” are what we fight against.
i was there and there was a man, not a woman, who claimed he was hit. but he refused medical attention.
OF COURSE NOT. These folk believe that hey do not have to abide by the rules and therefore they close the streets everytime they see fit. I happen to work in the firehouse nearest to the in that area and I speak from experience that they actually assume we should make way for them when there is an emergency. You do not know what joy it brings me to speed down their block while there is a black suit procession and BLASTING MY FIRE ENGINE HORN. Somewhere there is a fire and these people believe what they are doing is more important.
Kudos to the fireman from that house for blasting through their make shift block party. No one was harmed and thusly they resort to bogus allegations of a hit and run.

You guys are a trip. I saw the video posted on you tube and I find it interesting that I DO NOT SEE THE CAR IN QUESTION ACTING ERRATICALLY. What is quite shocking is that the video has been altered in order to make the situation look graver than it really was. The commentary voices and the ladies scream are added in. I ask the poster of that video how a commentary voice and a singular scream are able to be heard over the masses. Oddly all one hears is the scream and two fool blabbing. whee are the voices of the large crowd. Am I to believe that this was the quietest group of people on Earth? Hmmmmmmm. That is quite odd and it is proof positive that the video has been doctored. As for the driver of the vehicle, there is no proof that he was a firefighter except for the supposed placard in the window. You can post the vehicles license plate all you want but it will not identify who was really behind the wheel of a car that obviously committed no crime. The supposed injured woman probably was convinced by her hubby at the scene to lay on the ground and claim injury. It is always about the money in this part of town. What ever the reason, the fact that the police are not treating this event as a important issue speaks volumes for the how the NYPD really feels about this none criminal event. Perhaps next time the folks in the area should not take it upon themselves to close a street on a whim without permission. I would have drove through the street myself if confronted by a whack job telling me that the street was closed. I blame these people for what happened for illegally closing a street without permission from the city. How dare they assume that they have that sort of authority to inconvenience the rest of the citizens of this fine city. Surely my comment will label me a Nazi but to those people I say…………

Mr.FDNY Fugitive, As far as the Injured women please be advised that every shul in Williamsburg, Borough Park, etc, had a poster hanging already Sunday Morning with the the Name of the Victim and her Mother’s name asking the public to pray for a speedy recovery,(as is the custom when praying for the sick and needy) Also all local private Schools handed down to their students the above Info, so yes we do care for her and hope and pray to god for a speedy recovery for her, and just for your distorted comment as to why “this” blog doesn’t wish her well please be advised that “this” blog is not the appropriate forum for that! The shuls and school’s are! And that’s what the community did!!

You made an articulate arguement there, but for one thing. I think you are getting your information off the internet and alot of hear-say. Especially with others claiming that they were there, and adding more than their 2 cents into this incident. It is an accident and will be treated as such. No one knows the heart of any man by one isolated incident. Would anyone here care to be judged in the same manner? In your community, there are many deep and dark secrets too. The FDNY and NYPD are not ignorant of what goes on behind your closed doors. Let the law deal with the facts and justice will be served, albeit, maybe not in your emotionally charged world, but it will be served judiciously and balanced. I pray for the speedy recovery of the victim, and that none of you exacerbate this situation any worse than what it is now. Be careful how you pass judgement on others, for God will use the same temperment against your sins as well.

If I may add my piece here- this was no accident. The firefighter drove down Hooper street toward the crowd (even while his fire truck left hooper the wrong way in the opposite direction to a job). If you suggest that driving down the right way on Hooper was his right and that part was an accident, no problem. ALL the traffic that did make their way down Hooper made a right turn onto Kent away from the crowd. This fellow drove down Hooper (with his window down, yelling at everyone). When he got to Kent, he stoppped to contemplate his next move, clearly saw the crowd and decided to make a left through the crowd. Now, giving him the benefit of the doubt (of which I certain he does not deserve here) that he didn’t see the crowd until he made the left, as soon as everyone began yelling that he’s driving into a crowd, he should have stopped, backed up and headed the opposite direction on Kent. Not only did he drive through the crowd, he did it at a reasonably fast speed (10 MPH may not seem like much unless you’re the pedestrian in the way) and didn’t once honk for people to get out of the way. His window remained down the entire time, which throws out the claim that he would have been scared (he cursed at everyone and didn’t bother closing his window).
Now, after all that, if you still want to insist it was accident then he should have stopped when people screamed that he hit someone. He actually ran over a guy’s leg as well. He didn’t. He continued to drive off and make a right under the highway. Some of you said that he would have been scared for his life had he stopped- no problem. There was a police cruiser at the corner. He could have stopped there and waited for their protection. He did none of it. I personally was standing there when he first drove down Hooper. There was no crowd surge on his car because he didn’t bring any attention to himself then (he didn’t honk once). The only time the crowd freaked out was when he turned into them and drove thru.
Most people would have stopped before they reach 75% of the points he did.
I’m not saying that he’s a murderer because I don’t think he is. I think he wanted to show that he can go where he wants to, when he wants to and couldn’t care less who was there.
In it’s simplist form, he disgraced the FDNY by doing it all while wearing his duty shirt and having his FDNY plaque in the windshield. He should have been careful because people get painted with the same paintbrush too often. I dont know what his intensions were, and most firemen i saw are very nice people however regardless of that he was a fdny off duty member so where does fdny come in to the headlines it happened with a private viechle its not right to report it in such a way. im not taking sides just that this should not be labeled as a fdny accident it was a private citizen at that time, and it should be investigated it may be nothing more then a terrible mistake with no bad intensions.

What was the motive to kill? If you are so sure, then why dont you join the NYPD and become a homicide detective. You wont, because you are a coward, always slinging accusations from the midst of a crowd, instigating others to do what you cannot do yourself. No one was “murdered” and the NYPD are investigating. You rantful cries of attempted murder dont sway the investigations in your favor. Let them sort out the facts from the emotional shrills, and let it all bear out the truth. I for one, will be patient to see what comes of this. Cooler heads will always prevail. The facts will determine the punishment.

If the firefighter stopped, he probably would have been beaten senseless in an act of vigilante justice. For God’s people, many in your community display such hypocrisy. How many times have Hasidim been involved in accidents due to reckless driving trying to rush home in time to park their car in time for Shabbos? This was a funeral where a young lady died the same day and according to Jewish law she gets buried within 24 hours!!! The police were notified, they actually closed down the streets around the area!! And this Murderer knew it and actually saw with his own eyes what’s goin on, he could have gone and made a right turn out of the fire dept. Driveway and leave via Wythe Av. I was at the levayah and saw what happened and am shocked to learn that this person was a member of the FDNY when I saw what happened I taught that the person must be a Druggie or drunken driver.
it is not comprehensible to think that this was a member of the FDNY an organization dedicated to saving life.
BTW there was a Truck responding to an emergency during the levaya and that Truck made a right Turn From the fire house (no siren) and left VIA Wythe Ave.
