The town’s proposed spending plan for 2008 is $15.5 million, more than $1.26 million over last year’s budget of $14.2 million.
The rate per $1,000 of assessed value would climb from $11.30 to $11.75, not including water, sewer and fire districts. The sewage rate is set to go up 7.65 percent; the water rate would increase 7.42 percent.
Supervisor Steve Levine’s salary is budgeted to rise from $31,000 to $34,000. Town Board members have declined a raise, keeping their salary at $10,000 each. All other town employees would see a 3 percent raise. [Record]
THIS IS TRUE. TIME FOR CHANGE. DEVELOPERS AND BUILDERS ARE GETTING WHAT THEY WANT WHILE THE TOWN GETS $$$$$ OFF OUR BACK. These people must look at who they serve, in the current system they look at who serves them. Granted expenses have gone up, but in reality, look at the amount of taxes being paid, hundreds of new taxpayers who rarely if ever use services. We do not use their school system, etc.
Why is this news. In lakewood my taxes are up about 60% in the past 2 years and nobody says a word. Keep voting for the self serving askanims candidates and eventually you will not be able to afford your house.
The Catskill Alliance organized a few years ago and thousands changed residence to be able to vote. The recommended candidates won thanks to our votes.
The only thing they did was to protect the interests of the summer residence developers. OUR TAXES ARE ONLY GOING UP.
The Catskill Alliance is nothing but a bunch of Heimishe greedy builders. All the people that listen to them are Oilem Goilem. I told them this when they came to me last week. They had no answer.
Askanim should create a new organization that will truly represent the heimishe oilem that is being ripped off year after year by the unrealistically high taxes in Fallburg. Not to give favors to the developers.
