Davis, who formed Citizens for a Secular Government, wrote the commissioners about placing a statue honoring the U.S. Constitution on the Circuit Court lawn on Washington Street along with the Ten Commandments.
But Davis was disappointed that the commissioners had not responded to his request.
He said allowing the Ten Commandments monument and not allowing other statues is illegal and unconstitutional.
"Never say never," Commission President Jim Stakem said. "But this board of commissioners is not going to replace (the Ten Commandments)."
"We're not interested at this point in time," Stakem said of a U.S. Constitution monument. "We're definitely not interested in removing the Ten Commandments." [times-news]
