Dacono, CO – A councilwoman resigned over what some branded a racist e-mail, but Sandra Tucker said she won’t apologize for posting it.

In the e-mail, Tucker, 61, said that being a Democrat is worse than “being a black disabled one-armed drug-addicted Jewish queer”
“I’m sick and tired of all of this political correctness,” Tucker told The Denver Post. “I’m not going to apologize if you don’t have a sense of humor.”
Actually Sandra Tucker is a Democrat who posted a joke about man who finds (to his horror) that he has become all of his most hated stereotypes. The joke itself fundamentally calls into question the use of racial, ethinic, sexual, and political stereotypes. In that context it is classical satire and is not a racist joke.
If the same joke had been told from a die-hard Republican, the interpretation might be very different much in the same way that we interpret the use of the “N-word” differently depending on who uses it and in what sense. It is a shame that people confuse the satire of the joke with Sandra Tucker’s personal position, and it is a shame that they pressured her to resign.
L’ma’aseh she’s right.
I don’t get it. Was she trying to say that being a Democrat was a bad choice in life? Then why bring in “disabled” and “one-armed”–those aren’t choices?
picking on jews seems to be permissable.i know of quite a few city agencies that have nasty workers that make anti semetic remarks and they get away with it over and over again. one of these days i will let the cat out of the bag and spill the beans and watch this politicians office take a well deserved fall. i think i will let the info out when this person is running for office.
