London – The British real estate magnate accused of funneling political donations to the British Labour Party said on Thursday that he had given the money secretly to avoid accusations of being part of a Jewish conspiracy, the British Jewish Chronicle reported on Friday.

In his interview with the Jewish Chronicle, businessman David Abrahams also warned the British government he would come out fighting if ministers start “hammering” him over the row.
Abrahams is one of the leading British donors to Jewish and Israeli causes. Last month, The Mail on Sunday first reported that Abrahams had secretly funneled political donations through much less wealthy intermediaries. Abrahams had turned a small-time construction worker named Ray Ruddick into the third-largest donor to Britain’s governing party.
Abrahams insisted that he remained anonymous because he did not want “Jewish money” and the Labour Party to be linked, as he feared people would blame a Jewish conspiracy for the donations
