Thompson, NY – The famed Kutsher's Sports Academy is moving from Sullivan County, and an Orthodox Jewish group has signed a five-year lease to hold summer camp on the sports academy's site.

Its site will be taken over by Camp Rov Tov, a summer camp affiliated with a Satmar Jewish private school in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Moishe Indig, a community leader there, said the group has signed a 5-year lease on the property. Owner Mark Kutsher did not return telephone calls.

The land is unlikely to be tax-free, town assessor Nora Hughson said, because the camp does not own it.

Camp Rov Tov, which caters to boys between the ages of 8 and 13, was formerly based in Livingston Manor. Because most of the campers' parents stay in Fallsburg, Liberty and Monticello, Indig said the new location is ideal.

"It's a very beautiful place for the summertime, and the children will be closer to their parents," he said.

The new campsite includes a 225-acre lake, new bunks, and a 15,000-square-foot lodge. It was home to camps and resorts in the past. [Record]

The original Idea of schools going out upstate to camps is the same idea that famileils travel upstate for the summer months.
    1. to get away from the heat
    2. to get away from the city streets where the dress code becomes intorable for a yiddish neshomo.

Allot of camps changed into a whole fun station trying to compete with one another

Satmars idea of going to camp stayed original.

Nothing with getting away from parents

The whole idea of a camp is to get the kids a bit away from the parents, so i dont believe this is the real reason . Secondly, The place is beautiful as he put it, but as soon as those boys go in there its gonna be destryed and Mr. kutcher will not be a happy CAMPER to say the least.
