“There must be legislation allowing Jewish people everywhere in the world to become Israeli citizens, even if they do not live here,” asserted Rabbi Zalman Melamed on Sunday at a conference debating Torah-derived teachings as they pertain to minority issues in Israel.
Melamed is regarded as an influential authority in the Religious Zionism movement and currently serves as Beit El’s chief rabbi.
Doing so, said Melamed, would strengthen the idea of Israel as the nation of all Jews while simultaneously shoring up the country’s Jewish demographic in future elections.
However, he agreed, Jews who do not reside in Israel should not receive monetary benefits so long as they are also exempted from paying taxes and other national duties. [ynet]
The reason for this drastic rascist call, is a result of the establishment of a Jewish state that has nothing to do with Judaism. there was no mechanism to maintain the “Jewishness” of the Jewish state. Arab enemies of the state were allowed to remain Russian Goyim were allowed to immigrate, Mormons were allowed to proseletyze, NOW there is a lomming demographic problem… for the secular right winger, the religious zionist, and the modern orthodox Jew, but not for the true believer. When we deserve eretz Yisrael, Arabs, Russian goyim, and mormons will be a non-entity. Until please see the orech chaim hakadosh on the end of Parshas kidoshim. Vilo saki eschem ha’aretz….
It is NOT a Jewish State. I am a Jew, and I have nothing to do with it, and NEVER wish to be associated with it.
My reasons are multiple.
No, I have nothing against the people who live there. That is their choice.
But, I have always made it my business to declare that I offer no allegiance and/or no connection whatsoever to the Zionist State.
There are many THOUSANDS like me who would fee compelled to take out ads renouncing and such citizenship. This may turn out to be a chillul Hashem.
I really hope they reconsider.
Besides, how DARE they make people citizens of a country against their wishes or will?!
um it’s supposed to be the jewish state. why are we being so cynical today?
What does Israel as a state have to do with Judaism ?!
why would they lose their jobs immediately? many people have dual citizenship. many people gain dual citizenship when they marry. i think this is an inaccurate statement. don’t you think it would be kind of problematic if us jews lost jobs en masse, b/c the israeli government decided to confer citizenship on all of us? mass anti-semitism at it’s best. i’m sure this would not be acceptable. it is always good to have more than one place to call home. have you not learned the lesson from this past century- don’t get too comfortable! just because this is our home country does not mean it will always be so! there is no country in the world that loves jews- not even the us! the yidden were in europe for 1000 years or more- it really didn’t help us when the whole world turned on us. the us has tuned its back on the jews before- you can be sure that it can happen again.
I certainly would NOT want Israeli citizenship.
What if Jews don’t want Israeli citizenship?
Many US Jews would immediately lose their jobs if Israeli citizenship was conferred upon them, voluntarily or involuntarily.
Great Idea,, we are all citizens of Israel if we are of the Jewish faith.
