Monsey, NY – Internationally popular Chasidic minstrel Lipa Schmeltzer has earned more than his fair share of notoriety.

The eye of “The Big Event” cancelled-concert storm of several months ago, Schmeltzer seems to have arrived at poetic justice of some sort—with demand for “A Poshiter Yid,” his brand-new CD, through the roof and overwhelming Jewish music distributors and retails stores alike.
In an exclusive phone interview, Mendy Werdyger of Aderet Music, the CD’s distributor, tells VIN News that “this is a historic event. I have been in the music industry for more than 25 years and I have never seen such a frenzy of interest for a new CD like this one. It’s unprecedented and it will be record-breaking for us to sell a single CD like this.”
Werdyger added that Aderet’s Borough Park office had to take the rare step of opening on this past Sunday to work on the CD on a day on which they are closed “99% of the time—but due to the tremendous request and demand we had to come in and fill the [retail] stores’ orders.”
VIN News’ sources have confirmed that over 15,000 copies of Schmeltzer’s CD have been shipped in just the first few days of its release, with second and third runs required on short notice due to the initial low supply and high demand. One industry analyst who asked to remain anonymous predicted that this CD will break a sales record and possibly reach over 50,000 copies sold over the next few months—something that no Jewish singer has achieved in the past 50 years.
VIN News has also learned that the superstar himself will be visiting several music stores on Borough Park’s 13th Avenue this coming Sunday, where his avid listeners and admirers may meet and greet him. The stores include Mostly Music, Gal Paz and Eichler’s.

As long as we all realize that lipa Is simply an entertainer., perhaps a good one although frankly that’s c matter of opinion but to be fair the fact is his sales do reflect his growing popularity. However people should not confuse talent in music for some sort of yidishe gadlus, there is no gadlus in utilizing your god given talents. Entertaining? Absolutely. Will he be c role model for my kids? Sorry but no. Anyway for all those who like to ask what’s wrong with concerts and music and those crazy rabbis… Just know it’s a halachik question if one is altogether allowed to listen to music since the destruction of the temple. Fact is we are allowed to WITH CERTAIN GUIDELINES! YEA that’s right it’s not unlimited there actually are times when not to listen example while eating i believe, except for a seudas mitzva. Anyway just bear all this in mind when u ask what’s wrong with crazy music entertainment and concepts…. And let’s not give a talented young man some sort of god like status…. Oh and enjoy the new cd people, its prety darn good. . . .
Lipa decided correctly not to stonewall the rabbonim but to cancel the concert at any cost. It would seem that Hashem is paying him for his monetary and professional mesiras nefesh. I think that anybody who brings out negative opinions on him is beacuse they personally just don’t like his music. So don’t buy it.
Just to set the facts, MBD sells more copies than lipa does. (it still is an awesome album, nbut lets not get carried away
Just what does the frum community consider “record CD sales”?. An independent secular band can sell 20,000 CD’s and not even be considered a blip on the radar. So how many is he selling for it to be considred “SuperStar”?

No one has sold even more then about 40,000 cd’s in the at least the last 15 years.
All the publicity this big event story is going to be huge because people who aren’t even into Jewish music were following the story and probably want to know what the big deal is.

I think I heard the title song played in the Kolel Store a couple of days ago. For an Alter Bubby with no clue about these things, I thought it was really very nice! It’s good that our kids can enjoy Kosher popular music, L’Havdil, like goyim enjoy theirs.

Lipa should not be idolized. Enjoy his music, but it is revolting to see adults (and of course kids)treat him like their rebbe and king.
Don’t start bashing me that I am jealous or just don’t like him. I happen to have extreme respect for a person like him, that took the time on a very busy erev yom tov to come sing and entertain a sick man whom he did not even know. The mitzva he did that night will merit him great s’char.
