Los Angeles, CA – A Los Angeles airport spokesman says a man who allegedly made a threat aboard a jetliner as it was landing was subdued by passengers and is being questioned.

Los Angeles International Airport spokesman Albert Rodriguez says the man was taken for questioning after Delta Air Lines Flight 110 from Atlanta landed Wednesday morning.
Rodriguez says the man reportedly made the threat as the plane was touching down in Los Angeles. About 230 passengers were aboard and they were not injured.
Bruce Worrilow told Fox11 News that he and his wife were aboard the airplane when the man “jumped up and started running … (and) yelled `I’ve got a bomb.’ “

He just wanted to the first one off the plain and he got his wish.

If true, this story confirms the fact that passengers on U.S. flights will not sit quietly when a bad guy tries to act. [The first and only passenger to immediately try to resist the 9/11 hijackers on the Boston flight was a Mossad agent; he knew what was in store if he failed to act…. unfortunately, he was alone in trying to fight, was subdued, and executed.]
Now, can we say the same about how we would act in a shul if someone dangerous entered? Do we want to defend our shuls and schools, or will we wait until a catastrophe happens? What will it take for the Jewish community to be more proactive in self-defense?

Although it is near impossible (well extremely difficult) to get a carry license in NYC, it is much easier to get a premise or target license and even easier to ger a rifle or shotgun license. It behooves all shuls and yeshivas to appoint individuals who get the training and get licensed and maintain weapons in locked safes in shul. (It wouldn’t hurt if more “heimishe” had weapons at home as well.)
It is practically inevitable that terrorists or disgruntled, and psychotic individuals will attempt something in BP or Willy.
