Court papers filed in a Brooklyn court show that trainer Josip Marcan agreed to pay $935,000 to two drivers who were seriously injured when the 450-pound cat slipped out of his cage, into a city park and onto the Jackie Robinson Parkway.

The white tiger bounded onto the parkway after escaping on July 31, 2004, sending motorists into a panic. Marcan and his attorney said that Apollo was never on the roadway.

Scary stuff, I wonder how he was able to blend in with traffic, especially Jaguars.

You mean the Inter-boro? Hmm… this was an unfortuante accident, but the Jackie Robinson Parkway is a dangerous road even without a tiger running loose. I remember this story, but I don’t remember the tiger actually getting on the parkway. If that’s the case, is the trainer responsible for someone rubber necking? The drivers still have to pay attention to the road. Does that mean I can claim damages if I crashed because I was startled by a immodestly dressed woman?

Murray, you crack me up again.

#3 That was my point. My post was sarcastic. The tiger handlers had a responsibility, as did the drivers. How many times do you see crashes because gawkers ignore what’s around them?

They are full of baloney. I have a picture of the front cover of the NY Post showing the tiger walking next to the cars. I kept the picture because it was really unbelievable.
