That’s the sales pitch being offered by Mint, a new car-rental service in the city that is offering weekday rentals starting at $2 an hour.
Mint charges a $25 membership fee, but then its fleet of economy cars, including the Smart Car, are available for the price of a gallon of gas.
The promotional offer is available only Mondays through Thursdays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., until June 1. After that, the hourly rate will be closer to $10.
The first 180 miles driven are free.
Oh Yeah! Drive more then 180 miles in two hours and you pay $100 for every mile. Not for the car rental, but for the speeding ticket.
amazing!
and then pay $40 for parking
You can fit two of these cars in one spot – so parking will only be $20. Wouldn’t that be nice! Maybe you can also reduce the speeding ticket too – since you only have half a car…
sounds wonderful but you have to get to Manhattan in order to get to their car lots!
Use a Metrocard to get to Manhattan – and you get a free transfer.
big deal ! usally a rentel is a day , you can’t return it in mddle of the night .. so it’s 24 x 2 – $ 48.00 so what’s the METZIYEH ??
unless u have all your info recorded, and u can just “chap” a car when u want-its not worth it. if u want a car just to travel from bklyn to monsey for example–back and forth–ok–but if u have to sit at a car rental for an hour filling out paperwork to do so–so not worth it!
Wow, so much negativity for a great deal. So what if its not for you, dont spoil it for the rest of us. Personally I’m stoked i can get a car on demand for $2/hr. I use the service and there are no hidden fees — just pay fro your own tolls and taxes. Dont be haters people!
