Park East’s rabbi, Arthur Schneier, is a Holocaust survivor and the founder of the Appeal of Conscience Foundation, which works for human rights and religious freedom around the world. Last year, Schneier hosted Pope Benedict XVI in the first visit by a pope to an American synagogue.

This is too much. Rabbi Schneier may be appreciated for his interfaith efforts but welcoming an anti semite who spares nothing when berating Israel time and again for defending herself is beyond the scope of the imagination.

We can scream “anti-semite” against anyone who has criticized EY for the Gaza action but that means we must cut ourselves off from 99 percent of the world. That may be ok with you but if the leadership of EY will meet with him than we shold be equally willing to welcome him into our midst while clearly and without apology reaserting EY’s right to defend itself in any way it can. We will not change reality in terms of how EY is viewed geopolitically but may at least have our views heard by the leader of the UN. For those who say Israel should “go it alone and not give a damm about the UN or other nations”, its not an answer.

Too bad it’s not in Lookstein’s shul otherwise he would’ve given him an aliyah.

    BS”D

Sad thing is that by UN standards he is not all that bad – still he has no business in a shul any more than Sharpton does.

I don’t think hes an anti semite. I think he is just doing his job. The UN is an anti semitic organization and they hired him to represent them. Deep inside he probably likes the Jews , he just wants to earn an honest living. Give the man a break

First the pope then the UN chief. If he keeps the trend up, he may actually invite a Jewish person to speak in his shul on shabbos. Oy Vey!!

Yesterday the RCA was trashing Rav Lookstien for speaking at the National Cathedral in Washington; today its the Secretary General for speaking at a Shul; tomorrow it will be Rav Schneerson for speaking in Monsey…

Why don’t you guys just get over it; the world is changing and yidden must broaden their outlook to accomodate those whose views differ from their own

Maybe they will give him Maftir and Roish Choidesh Bentsching (i.e. New “Moon”).
At least he could get the Kibud of announcing the Moilad, preferably in Yiddish.

Arthur invites “world leaders” to help create or draw a minyun to his strange synagogue (after kriyah). It makes him feel Chashive. The item is not even news worthy.
