Local Jewish leaders criticized the fact that President of the United Nations General Assembly Miguel d’Escoto Brockmann plans to take part in the service.

Brockmann has been criticized heavily for a number of anti-Israel statements he has made in the past, including calling Israel an Apartheid state, and saying that Israel is ‘crucifying the Palestinians’, a statement that was widely taken to be anti-Semitic and not just anti-Israel.

Brockmann also accused Israel of committing ‘Genocide’ during the recent IDF operations in Gaza.

The UN has so far not responded to calls for Brockmann not to attend, saying only that Ban was expected to be present at the prayer service

Finally we’re standing up to the bullies. I’ll personally bar the door if he tries to enter.
Don’t you just love the way Brockmann threw around terms like “genocide” in describing the nation that gives Arabs the right to run for Knesset membership?!?
How pathetically transparent his antisemitism is. How sad and tragic that the U.N. has sunk to this. KEEP HIM OUT AT ALL COSTS!!! DO NOT CAVE!!

The UN should be abolished. The USA pays most of the bill for all these anti-American and anti-Israel hating hypocrites to have a world forum.

As we remember the Holocaust, it is appropriate that we do not tarnish or throw around lightly the concept of genocide. Brockmann’s remarks are pure hatred and his speaking at this event is a bad decision on the part of UN. and an insult to survivors. I hope Rabbi Lau, who will be speaking next week, repudiates Brockmann’s anti-Semitic and anti-American remarks that he had made over the past few weeks.

Arthur (Park East) just wants to see his name in a paper and then ask for donations for his foundation. There is no other reason for the invite.
