Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY – A request from the Village of Kiryas Joel last year for a $5 million federal grant to build wells near the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson’s wells never came to pass, but Cornwall-on-Hudson Mayor Joseph Gross is concerned that the money could be included in the new stimulus package being discussed in Washington.

Gross said KJ wants to run a pipeline from their wells near Cornwall to their village and that could put a strain on his village’s water supply.
“They are in close proximity to village owned wells, as I understand, about 100 yards, so it is potentially a threat to our water source and as I understand, it’s the same aquifer,” he said.
Gross wrote to Senator Schumer, Congressman Hall and state representatives expressing his concern.
So what does Cornwal expect KJ to do?
I believe this is common practice in the upstate region that neighboring vilages should share pipelines.
The wells belong to KJ. Too bad they are within close proximity to to your wells, Mr. Mayor. What do you guys want KJ to do? When they wanted to tap into the NYC aqueduct you cried foul. When they want to use their own wells you wouldn’t let them either. So what should they do? Parch in thirst?
