Washington – Former President Jimmy Carter said President Barack Obama “personally” promised him that he would not wait until the last year of his presidency to begin working on a Middle East peace process.

During an interview with PBS’s Charlie Rose Tuesday night, Carter said of Obama: “One of the things that appealed to me was his promise in advance to me personally and to the public that he would start working on the Mideast peace process immediately after he was elected and not wait until the last year of his term.”
Carter has previously criticized former President Bill Clinton for waiting to hold a peace summit at Camp David between Israeli and Palestinian leaders until the end of his presidency. Former President George W. Bush also did not address a potential peace deal between the two camps until late in his term.
But Carter said he is pleased so far with Obama’s early efforts and that recently-appointed special envoy to the Middle East George Mitchell was an “outstanding” pick.
“I talked to him twice since he was chosen,” Carter said of Mitchell. “I am thankful that he was chosen. I think he is the best possible American that could be chosen.”
Carter praised the new president throughout the interview, but had harsh criticism for the man Obama replaced.
“I am relieved that [Bush] has been replaced. I think that he probably had the most disastrous term relating to foreign policy of any previous president,” Carter said. “It’s a very good move now for us to have a different president.”
If Obama takes advice from Carter we are all in trouble.
Carter is a Fool who has sold his soul to the Arab world – they support his lifestyle and his foundation.
And the Arabs have lots more to spend.
This guy was president decades ago and he can’t get over his failure so his sticks his little peanut brain into everything just to get noticed and garner recognition.
This is what clinton did and I am scared that being that Barry obama is relatively young, even after he leaves office he will still be going around the world sharing his insight and great ideas with the world and accomplish zero. He will get Michelle in politics and then his daughters just like clinton.

Uh, Mr. Carter, the USA once had a president with such failed foreign policies that we had american hostages held in IRAN for 444 days. You must have forgotten about that. Perhaps its the selective memory issue you’ve been having all along.
I am bothered that the media even takes this clown seriously. He is unique in that he has taken incompetence to an alarming level. Not just bad policy, but gross incompetence. He never had any normal ideas of his own, and he surrounded himself with some of the worst advisors in American history. As earlier comments stressed, he is desperate to leave his mark on American politics, and that is why he is not just keeping his mouth shut. He was over the hill before he became president. He is much past that now. Time to fade. But no, he is prepared to violate every law of the land to find himself at least one bit of fame. Jimmy, you’re already listed in the books. Go away.
We all know what a magnificent president Bush was in terms of support for Israel, and if Carter doesn’t like what Bush did, well, that only serves to underscore a) how much Bush meant to Israel, and b) How much Carter is anti-Israel.
And if Carter likes what Obama is doing, that can’t be good.
I would support a law that would force past presidents not to comment on matters of the “state.” If they do talk about it, they should lose their pensions as well as other benefits for being a past president.
I hope the RSO forgives me for saying this, but we Jews deserve everything we get from this Presidency. Many voted for Jimmy, yemach shemo, and a majority, not from the frum world, voted for B. Hussein Obama – knowing full well his policies are equivalent to Jimmy’s.
Look most Presidents slight Israel. Let’s face it the Arabs have a lot of the oil, while the Marxists here don’t allow us to use what we have. Drill here and drill now. Let the Arabs eat camel droppings. We have so much oil and gas here that we can stick it to the Arabs. Let Israel do what we do – defend itself of terror.
The media, mostly leftists, has a vested interest in remaking Jimmy as St. Jimmy. I promise you when he drops dead, the media will slobber all over him. About how the Middle East Peace was awesome. I remember it as Israel loing out on oil in Sinai and the land for peace business gained momentum. I wonder how they’ll explain away how this radical Islam is on his head. Oh I know! He was courageous for attacking Iran with 6 helicopters.
I am currently watching an interview on cnn that wolf blitzer is doing with Carter. He keeps dodging Blitzers direct questions, such as whether or not Carter thinks that Hamas is a terrorist organization. Carter waffles on every answer and even went so far as to refer to Menachem Begun as a terrorist.
