New York, NY – A New York sculptor has paid homage to megaswindler Bernie Madoff by turning him into a piggy bank.

You can drop a coin in the slot atop the faux-bronze “Ponz,” but don’t expect to see it again, artist Palmer Murphy said.

“The plug at the bottom is phony and can’t be opened – you can give Madoff your money, but you can never get it back,” Murphy, 39, said. “It’s the gift that keeps on taking.”

Madoff’s hair turns into money bags in the back, and the false plug at the bottom reads: “Madoff in the USA.”

It took Murphy three weeks of sculpting – and many pints of Guinness – to create the image for the piggy banks. They go on sale today on eBay.
