Tonight the owner of the store Shmuel Baron will give an exclusive interview at 12:3O am on WMCA 570 am
You can listen live on the net here
good for him
let him speak up for himself
Thank g_d he’s back in bussines, you wouldent be able to tell that there was a scandle over there, all these guys who were nocking him last week on VIN that was stam cus you were board out of your mind , looking to have action on a yiddisheh nshumas cheshben,
what bothers me with the whole story is how a bunch of self righteous low lifes acted. yes, what you put into your mouth is important but the language and behavior those bums showed were way worse than trief. its all part of this new frum culture to bury others for perceived frumkiet.
From the other side it was a good lesson to all restaurants that if anything will happen they may be out of business momentarily ,
#1 the langauage they use is their personal problen selling treifes is klal yisroels problem …there are yesodos in yidishkeit and it does not matter what big bum someone is even if he himself will eat at mcdonalds it will bother him when a heimishe store is selling to yiden who think they are buying kosher treif ..that’s what a yidishe neshooma is
Good PR
It cost him some agrivation, but he’d never be able to buy the publicity he’ received. Watch him expand now. He’ll be swamped now before pesach.
Let’s all of us go to the store, and be mechazek an Ehrliche Yid (storekeeper).
Rabbi Naftali Meir Babad, the “machshir”, bears all the responsibility. He should be removed from all involvment with Kashrus forever. We demand his immediate resignation.
Hey dont knock the Leidigeirs they discovered something and they acted in their way. We should thank them for this. After all which normal person goes out to buy a frank at 12.30 AM? So a good thing came out from this leidigeires and we sghould thank them all
Regardless of how it happened, it did happen.
Treif meats were found in a supposedly kosher-only establishment.
Who is to say it never happened before? The day before or week before or month before?
If they installed now a Mashgiach Temidi, who is asking the Mashgiach questions to see if he is just a dummy or the responsible party?
If intentionally bringing in Treif meats (even against the owners knowledge) doesn’t make us run away from such a place, what will?
What is the k’nas or fine for such a violation?
What’s the “motivation” for the Hechsher to make sure it doesn’t happen again under their watch?
If the answer is nothing, I can’t eat there nor anywhere under their Hashgocha.
what a bunch of nonsense. Tell Brenner to put out more meaningful programming rather than a busted store owner trying to save face.
i heard the show last night and again here this morning
i personally think he is definitly hiding something and not being 100% honest
if you listen to the last 2-3 callers asking him to make public the videos that he has to be able to settle the negetive thoughts and feeling from the frum community
on all 3 callers he didnt directly speak about and is hiding something there that he doesnt want people to see and hear
it might be the attidute from his brother in law with the knife etc. or something else
when he will comeout open and honest we will re-entertain the thoguth of returning to his store
at this point there isnt even any time frame when he will reopen the store or anything else
if he has something to hide then he deservse what he has
if he doesnt let him come out in the open and be honest about for everyone to see and hear
in the meantime there are plenty of places to eat and enjoy and good meal he is not the only pebble in the lake
chag hapesach “kosher” vesameach
I think the foul language that came out of these yeshiva boys mouth was worse then the non kosher frank. Now its on the front cover of the NY Post what a chilah Hashem.
he claims nobody eat the traifa hot dogs and that he has it on video let him put the video out y dosnt he, also he riped vin ans yw well they report news and they are doing a good job and all they reported was what was going on THE NEWS, to vin y did you apologize last night for doing what you do best report news you did nothing wrong you repoted a fact that was happning any way i can go on but let me finish by saying this #1 i dont think the owner know about it & #2 the owner and ball machshir ARE covering the real thruth if i am wrong let him shoe the video to proof so
I think that every Hecsher authority who gives Kashrus Certificates to any food establishment should post on their certificate a 24 hour telephone number of the Rav Hamachshir or 2 of his Mashgichim so if any customer ever sees something suspicious in the store he can call the Ruv on the spot withour having to search for their phone numbers. Very similar to the 311 system which has to be posted on every job site with the number of the contractor and builder…This would avoid any riots that happened last week at Shwarma King…
If someone speaks foul language he is still kosher leidis but someone who sells treif meat is poosil leidas …it was a mistake fine I hear but I don’t to have to trust him anymore I still want to eat kosher when I go in to a kosher restauraunt even if I ise foul language …I could of go to burger king and even if I did go to burger king now I want to spend more money to eat kosher ..its non of your business what kind of language I use …the bal machshir to take full responsibelity for this incident and not try to cover up
There are those that never eat out because there is room for error in any eatery. A mashgiach timidi is wonderful but not foolproof!
We have gotten into the habit of justifying things based upon things which are worse, or comparing to other people’s behaviors, etc., All silly ways to avoid responsibility.
1. Mashgiach Temidi is NOT foolproof, but IT IS MUCH BETTER THAN NOT HAVING ONE. Anyone who has been in Kashrus knows that we ARE better with a mashgiach than without one. That is a no brainer.
Telling ourselves over and over again that it is not perfect, that a mashgiach can be beat, that one can get around him is not the point.
Anyone who has been in Kashrus knows that we ARE better with a mashgiach than without one.
2. Finding fault with others does not take away from this problem. Finding fault with the disgustingly foul mouths of those in the video, does not take away from the fact that Chazir WAS brought into the restaurant.
Yes, I heard all the “reasons” and/or “excuses” for why it happened. I don’t really care to pay more attention to the why’s, only to the reality of ” it did happen.”
3. Complaining about the imperfections of a Kashrus agency accomplishes little. Even the best have accidents and mistakes.
But, there are still are some who are much better than others.
And…. I believe that not having a real, live mashgiach from opening to closing who opens and locks up, is asking for these things to happen.
You want perfection? It does not exist today in our world.
But we are responsible to do what we can and do the best at it.
YOU BORO PARK “CHASSIDS” ARE A BUNCH OF ANIMALS!! AND I THINK THE VIDEO IS PROOF!!– to spit and throw things on a fellow jew and call hima goy-what gives you the right? when did you become the beit din-go to john school and see how many chassids are there–are they goyim too? just because the guy made a error-how those animals in the store live with themselves is beyond me-and if he wasnt sephardic-they would not have acted in that way
29 I don’t care whatever you are disgusted or not aint give a ##it I’m sorry for my foul language of there is a store that sells kosher and has treif nothing is wrong to riot after that guy poicks up a knife …foul language ? Its a problem but not yours its mine ..kosher restauraunt selling treif its your and mine problem if you don’t see it take a hike ..nobody is iterested in your oponion about foul language and how bums act after having a knife pointed at them
to #30 –your foul language -says it all-your parents must be so proud of you
#38 to my opinion someone who is 1032pm online is a laydigier and NO 2
My spelling does not have to do nothing with a store with a hasgacha selling treife chazir fleish that’s the fact and there is no other fact you say it was a mistake maybe his whole runing a kosher restauraunt is a mistake if he can’t controll it let him take a mashgiach tamidi and how about you post your number so we can learn from somone very clever how to spell ? I’m telling you its a good idea you should provide evereyone with some of your wisdom after all if hashem gave you wisdom share it with others don’t keep it to yourself its not nice to be so selfish
#38 bum or not riot or not …don’t sell terifah fleish Lakelev Tashlichin Oisoi …that is klal yisroels problem and the way bums behave is not your problem just take care of your children and raise them the way you want don’t raise someone elses children oh and make sure your kids should know how to spell so if some bum will complain about a kosher store selling treif they can say to the other guy hey you don’t know how to spell lala kish kish …grow up
The video of a riot is posted on youtube and should be a required viewing for any Baal Tshuvah. These are the fanatics who kidnapped the religion. The generation of my parents would never do this to another yid.
A true tzaddik once told me that the main character difference between a yid and a goy is chesed. I want to use a forceful language to make my point. To those of you who rioted at the scene, you are COWARDS! The only reason why you people rioted was because you knew that the shopkeeper could not fight back. You are the same “outraged” jews who would run for covers if a fellow Jew was attacked on the street.
These frummer than frum characters are the ones that I would meet Friday night in a Williamsburg bar, trying to pick up women with their kippas off and peis behind the ears.
To every rosh yeshivah of those talmedim who were caught rioting, expel these people and then go ten generations back and see if they are Jewish. A true yid would never do this!!!
Its amazing how a story can change in a week. The original story was that a non-Jewish employee brought treif into the restaurant unchecked by the manager in charge. Now the story becomes “Restaurant Owner Sells Treif”. There is no evidence to show this restaurateur did anything wrong previously, and by saying the man “sells chazir fleish”, you are implying a conscious decision on his part to do this. Shameful that some would work so hard to destroy a man’s reputation instead of trying to help him.
I must admit that I do find it curious how quick some are to defend Gershon Nathan, even after many of those he stole from have come forward to testify and the evidence is pretty overwhelming. How quick many are to defend child molesters here as well. But one erliche yid with a stellar reputation trusts someone who makes a mistake with business (no matter how severe the mistake) and we are ready to burn his business to the ground and destroy his life. Go figure.
The bottom line is that any hechsher that allows the store to work with a shomer shabbos owner or a shomer shabbos employee, needs to take many more precautions.
A mashgiach tmidi that is appointed by the hechsher, responds to them, can’t be fired unless they approve of it, doesn’t work but could help according to his own judgment when and where without compromising kashrus, as long as it doesn’t become his official job and could always refuse doing it.
A shomer shabbos owner must be such an erlicher Yid that he would do everything right because that is who he is. (if not he can’t be his own mashgiach)
The hechsher, must get references from Rabbonim and others to ascertain the Iras Shomaim level of this person (owner) or the Shomer Shabbos person en charged.
The person encharged of kashrus/Shomer shabbos must be accountable as of all requirements of the hechsher, and must be trained as a mashgiach would be, and must be approved for the job.
He can’t open the store and rely on the fact that the goyim that work for him would be afraid of him therefore allowing himself to go to daven or to the bank without leaving another person approved by the hechsher. He would not let the goyim clean up at the end of the day by themselves either, even if he comes later to lock up.
He would never allow somebody not approved by the hechsher as encharged of kashrus to take money from the cash register, and would make sure that if there is a need for something to be bought that the shomer shabbos person/ mashgiach knows about it, takes the money and sends somebody and is conscious that when he comes back he must check what the person sent is bringing.
That person would know that he must report to the shomer shabbos/mashgiach encharged.
It seems to me that some of the above mentioned points were not taken into consideration.
A Jewish orthodox body on premises doesn’t necessarily equals a mashgiach.
And some airheads out there wonder why there is so little kovod given to rabbonim. Just read this and other similar stories. This religion is on sale.
