Prosecutors say they have asked a court to approve charges including robbery and acts of contempt against a religion.
The Tiferet Israel synagogue was ransacked and vandalized Jan. 30. The assailants shattered religious objects, spray-painted anti-Semitic slogans and stole a computer database with the names and addresses of Jews in Venezuela.
The attack took place as President Hugo Chavez severed diplomatic ties with Israel in protest of its military offensive on the Gaza Strip.
Chavez condemns the synagogue attack and denies provoking anti-Semitism.
This is great news. This proves that Chavez is not the one who set up the attack and it shows that it was the soldiers who did it. Usually, there would be a cover up. This is a clear indication that the Jews of Venezuala are safer than we thought. Thank you Mr. Hugo Chavez.
#1 and how do you know this is just a show’?
Hugo Chavez is a great threat to the Jewish community. Do not believe a single word he says. If I lived there I would have pack my belongings and leave if there is still a chance. Facts prove that he organized terrorist camps on his territory and hates Israel and US. His best friend is Iran’s leader. whatever declarations he makes he is mini Stalin and a hater of the Jewish people because of what we represent in this world..
