Tel Aviv – Travelers on Israeli airline El-Al report that its flights now feature a satire about residents of Hevron which many have termed “anti-Semitic.” The producers of the film may face libel suits.

The offending skit was aired earlier in the month on the satirical Eretz Nehederet (A Wonderful Land) show on Channel 2 TV. The popular show has run for six seasons in Israel and is similar to the American program Saturday Night Live

Without seeing the skit I couldn’t possibly say whether people should take offense, but it’s entirely possible. Eretz Nehederet can be wickedly funny, and occasionally offends everybody, but the Jews of Chevron really do get bad press and I can totally see how the EN crew may have seen them as a legitimate target for something truly nasty and mean-spirited.
In other words, merely reporting that “someone was offended at an EN sketch” is not reporting at all. Someone is *always* offended at an EN sketch. What we need to know is whether it truly was offensive, by the normal standards of that show.
Have not seen the show and agree with #1 . The holy residents of Chevron and the settler movement has always been open for ‘pock shots’. File a lawsuit since money is the only bottom line that effects the future productions..
Essentially, if you follow millhouse’s logic, only skits which exceed that shows standards of decency and more than averagely offensive based the show’s previous airings are to disturb us. Douche

I was on a flight this month.I don’t watch movies, but the comments I heard was that the films shown, bordered on pornographic.Do they not care about children.I wrote these comments in their quetionaire.Maybe more passengers should complain.The rest of the flight was excellent.
If you don’t what’s on the screen, change the channel. If you don’t like the airline, fly another one. The free market drives these things. If it suits El Al’s bottom line they will adjust the programming. If not, don’t expect changes. Why does everyone assume that because El Al is at Israeli company that it is any different from any other airline. It is a business run by secularists. You should expect nothing more from El Al than you would Jetblue. If you want to change something, find a way to impact their bottom line.

Does it have to be almost pornographic for Yidden not to watch it? How about if it’s simply not from a kosher source? If you don’t eat unkosher foods then by the same standards you shouldn’t watch unkosher films.

I HAVE seen the show and it is disgusting. It shows so called “settlers” spilling acid on soldiers and other atrocious things. Considering that in the recent war in Aza a disproportionate percentage of the fighters and wounded were these same “settlers”, including the true hero Aharon Karov, it is abonimable to allow this to be shown. There was a protest against this segment which aired on all the major Israeli networks recently. Shame on El Al for not picking something else to show their passengers.
