Brazil – Self-proclaimed “Rabbi” Elior Chen, who fled Israel to Brazil last year after being accused of instructing one of his followers to beat her child to the point of permanent brain damage, will be extradited to Israel, the Justice Ministry said today.

According to Justice Ministry sources, the extradition order must be signed by the Brazilian justice minister, and Chen should be scheduled to land in Israel in up to six weeks’ time, after Israel Police officials and prosecution representatives leave to Brazil to coordinate his extradition with local authorities.
Chen allegedly ordered a mother from Beitar Ilit to inflict severe emotional, mental and physical harm on two of her children, aged three and four-years-old, under the guise of “legitimate educational values” in the start of 2008. The three-year-old suffered permanent brain damage.
The indictment filed in the case listed a number of horrendous acts prescribed by the rabbi as “corrective” education.
The “corrections” included shaking, beating, binding, burning and force-feeding the children their excrements, all carried out with the goal of “extracting the demons ands parasites that live in the children”.
As soon as the investigation against him was launched, Chen fled the country and an international arrest warrant was issued against him. Some two months after his escape, Chen was found wandering the streets in Sao Paulo, Brazil and was arrested.
The “rabbi” was transferred to the city’s federal police headquarters and refused to return to Israel.
His lawyers argued that despite the extradition treaty between the two countries, the Israeli authorities’ request must not be granted, since Beitar Ilit is located in the West Bank – “Occupied territory that is not subject to the Israeli justice system.”
The Israeli Justice Ministry responded to the Brazilian authorities saying Beitar Ilit was indeed subject to Israeli law and that the defense’s claims should be rejected.
The Brazilian supreme court ruling to have Chen extradited was made unanimously yesterday, after an extradition request was filed by the State Prosecutor’s Office department for international affairs.

While I am neither the jury or judge, I would hope that his guilty verdict will lead to severe consequences. Our community cannot sit idly by, mouth off all sorts of sweet pacifications while children are being brutally murdered, physically, emotionally, or spiritually. also, it is worth publicizing that his atrocities were committed under the guise as a “rabbi” or “kabbalist”. How dare he or anyone else defile these roles that are expected to represent kedusha and tahara.

why do they call him a rabbi he is a subhuman…i cant beleive a parent would do that to a child. if the biggest gadol would tell me to beat my child force feed my child anything but food, i would say no, in a blink of an eye…cany understand.

Thank you to the Brazilian government for so quickly returning this chazer to E”Y to stand trial. He has permanently damaged the lives of many people and deserves nothing more than to spend the majority of his life in prison while waiting for H” to deal with him.
You’re all missing the boat. What mother with any human emotions, would ever inflict this on her children??? Clearly she is the devil, and the ‘Rabbi’ while being cruel and sick as well, should never have been listened to. If someone (even a ‘Rabbi) advised you to beat or shake your 4 year old, WOULD YOU??
If Beitar isnt part of Israel they should send this guy to the Palestinian Authority and let them deal with their criminal.
Hopefully, those poor kinder are, at the very least, in foster care or with close relatives who will make certain the mother can’t get near them. This “mother” should NEVER, EVER be allowed time alone with these children – supervision would be mandatory. Hopefully, she is receiving help to recover her senses.
Is the mother just dumb? Can she use common sense, if we are commanded to wash our hands if we even stand in the bathroom for a second because of the impurity what the heck makes her think that feeding feces to her child would purify them?
