There are reports an explosive device was left on a bench outside the coffee shop at 1642 Third Avenue and the corner of 92nd Street. Officials say that it wasn’t a bomb that went off, but an improvised explosive device (IED).

An apartment building above Starbucks was evacuated and a Level-1 mobilization has been called.

No one was injured in the blast.

Police Lt. Mike Wyosokowski said the explosion occurred at around 3:30 a.m.

Police plan to study the device used, to see if it’s similar to those in attacks on the Mexican and British consulates and in Times Square.

Wow! NY is getting to be a tough town.

I’ve also been upset at paying $29.95 for a cup of mud but this reaction seems a little extreme.
