An emergency session of the UN Security Council is called to discuss the development later in the day. It is expected to issue a strong statement of condemnation, reports said.

The reclusive Communist state’s official media, Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), had reported that it successfully carried out an underground nuclear test Monday morning.

In a strongly-worded statement, U.S. President Barack Obama described the North’s pursuit of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles as a threat to international peace.

“The danger posed by North Korea’s threatening activities warrants action by the international community. We have been and will continue working with our allies and partners in the six-party talks as well as other members of the UN Security Council in the days ahead,” the statement said.

Hello? Anybody home? Of course they are testing. They are trying to make the United States offer them even more prizes and grants and loans and aid and goodies, so the more they appear to be threatening, the more the Obama administration is going to give away. Exactly like he did with the other bailouts. This is simply a North Korean bailout that I guarantee you will be coming. He will be paying them to stop.

Does anyone #1 -#3 remember Bush refusing to take action against them in 2003-2006 and agreeing to their blackmail by supplying 1 million tons of oil and food aid? Do any of you remember North Korea reneging on their agreements last summer and restarting their nuke reactor? How you can possibly blame Clinton or Carter for that , despite their other failings, and completely exempt Bush?

Their tests will continue until they are met with an aggressive show of force. A child will be defiant until they realize that they are being told to shut up and sit down in no uncertain terms.
