Media Monitor Jon, who holds it down daily on YouTube at NewsPoliticsNews, has the completely depressing clip, which shows an Israeli man holding forth on the virtues of Israel’s health care system, which is “universal and compulsory, and is administered by a small number of organizations with funding from the government.” I have no basis to judge its merits — in 2000, the World Health Organization ranked it as the 28th best in the world. That said, let me sum up the countering argument, proferred by another town hall attendee: “Heil Hitler!”
That’s right! Some idiot woman yells “Heil Hitler” at a Jewish man who was doing nothing more than being a passionate advocate for Israeli health care. The man, quite naturally, goes completely apoplectic, saying “Shame on you” over and over again. The woman counters by saying, “Well, you ought to be the most against President Obama.” The poor man responds by saying, “I want to talk, not against Obama or for Obama. I want to talk about [health care].” He goes on to describe his own experiences with high-cost health care. For his efforts, the woman mocks him some more!
As ThinkProgress points out today, “Conservatives have strenuously denied that there is any anti-Semitism on display by anti-health reform protesters at town hall meetings nationwide.” Those denials are no longer tenable, are they?
Yesterday, it was some idiot carrying a gun outside of Obama’s health care town meeting in Arizona and claiming it was his right under the second amendment. Unfortunately, many posters here on VIN supported his rights under the SECOND amendment to do so. Would you same civil libertarians also support this crazy lady yelling “heil hitler” because she was simply exercising her FIRST amendment rights??

They have all sorts of taxes, sales, vat, income to name a few so he is paying PLENTY for it. Here we pay about 35-40% at the most for income tax, we pay sales tax which is for the state/local govt, we also pay some taxes that are Federal such as part of the telephone bill but thats about it.

There are some treatments that have not been approved in other countries so some come here. And there are treatment that are not approved here that people go there , since their version of the FDA approved it. Like some treatment for multiple sclerosis and aids. It goes both ways

For once lets put all the arguments aside, I would challenge anyone who is against Health Care Reform to coherently explain to us, why it is ok that over 50 percent of KJ are on some type of government program but I the middle class who pays my taxes should not have the ability to buy health insurance from the same government at a lower cost then the current prevailing cost.
You seem to be missing the point. It doesn’t matter what it says in the bill. What matters is the effect of the bill. A “public option” would effectively crowd out the private sector, especially with a hefty tax on businesses who don’t buy “approved” health insurance. Goverment price controls will drive away the best and the brightest from the medical field, as is the case in countries with socialized medicine, where it doesn’t pay to practice medicine. Removing the profit incentive will kill innovation and research and development in new drugs and treatments. I could go on and on. Liberals fail to recognize the real world consequences of their grandiose, if sometimes well meaning, plans.
Most importantly, the plan is unsustainable. Medicare is crushing this country financially, why would we expand it to include everyone? Government “largesse” in general is the biggest ponzi scheme there is. It’s called socialism. It’s been tried, and failed.

Belgium e1 by law has healthinsurance its mandatory and it is really cheap and great doctors.
Switzerland has great health care- also mandatory subsidised by state.

I have lived there for a year, yes the hospitals were not as beautiful, yes i did not have my full 15 min to explain the problem but you know what- The medicine and the doctor was absolutely for free!! Even i didnt like my doctors i switched twice doctors at no cost.
I am not saying it has to be 100 percent for free- But in Belgium health care is extremely cheap but also at a great quality of service.
I can NOT understand why this should be so difficult in a rich country like the US.

I was at a roundtable, town hall meeting the other day attended by Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, John Adams, Ronald Reagan, Abe Lincoln and a few other notables, they were astonished at the idiocy of todays American.
For those of you who wonder how we are falling so fast, how we have gone from the GREATEST COUNTRY in the WORLD to the brink of the LAUGHING STOCK OF THE WORLD it is simple. A few hundred years ago, every Pioneer, Adventurer, Explorer, Innovator….. Every person who was willing to take their turn pulling the wagon, expected no more from someone else than they were prepared to give themselves, desired to achieve though they knew the road would be tough and not all would survive….. They left family, friends and all they owned, got on a boat and founded this country. A few hundred years later, this country is filled with people who feel entitled, who think “the wealth should be spread around” who want to sit on their ass and be taken care of.
Government is Corrupt, they are supposed to be our servants, don’t confuse compassion with common sense…..

basically the issue might be you feel that the government issued health insurance will destroy private health care insurance, i don’t I think there will be many who will want private insurance like you.
That is the way it works in Germany everybody has insurance either government or private. I thing it is 65% goverment and 35% private so it can work.
The reason it is not socialized medicine it that the doctors and hospital and privet enterprises and not government works like in Britain
And if the government insurance will be subsidized there should be a means test, just like we have for welfare or other tax subsidized program.
If it is self sustaining from the premiums then there should not be any problem with the government competing, unless you feel the government can do it much cheaper and better.
