Dix Hills, NY – 93-Year-Old Dies in Four-Car Crash

Dix Hills, NY – An elderly Massachusetts woman has died after a car crash on Long Island.

Suffolk County police say 93-year-old Frieda Newman, of Dalton, Mass., was a passenger in a car involved in a four-vehicle accident in Dix Hills.

The crash happened when a car whose driver was making a left turn struck a commercial van heading in the opposite direction.

Police say both vehicles spun out of control and struck two other cars. The van hit the car in which Newman was riding.

She was pronounced dead at a hospital. Police say it’s unclear whether she died from any injuries sustained in the crash or another health condition.

Four other people were treated for injuries at a hospital. The accident, which happened Thursday, remains under investigation.
