Rabbi Yehoshua Ben Levi was a third century scholar who is mentioned in the Talmud. He headed a Talmudic academy in Lod and later in Tiveria.

This year, Mitch Flitzer, a resident of the Galilee town of Tzipori, discovered the grave of Rabbi Yehoshua when preparing groundwork for building.
Both the burial society and archaeologists claim that the Sage buried is a different Rabbi Yehoshua.

Its privat property but I doubt Mr. Flizter will want to have the the kever of the heilege rev (assuming it really is him) lying below his new master bedroom addition. Nor do I think he will want to charge adminssion for other yiddin to come and daven by the kever in his backyard. Perhaps they should simply dig up and rebury the remains in a regular cemetery which would make sense for all and avoid any possible desecration.

Is this guy seeking to exploit the grave in his backyard by establishing some type of shrine and charging religious jews to come and pray (sort of like the cottage industry in Italy and Mexico where people claim to have a vision of the Virgin Mary and suddenly they are charging pilgrims $5/head to come and pray). The proper thing to do would be to dig up the bones and place them in a proper burial location, irrespecive of which rebbe this is.

It is unbelievable that the kever of such a great Amorah was just found. There must be a collection to buy the property and build a respectful tzion and building there for teffilas. This is very chashuv. The above postings are so meshuga that now I know most people here are sadly Am Haratzim.

guys, this is nonsense. Rabbi Yehoshua Ben Levi like Eliyahu Hanovi never died. He went into Gan Eiden alive. The gemorah asks about the status of Rabbi Yeshuoah ben levi.

I feel for the owner who might lose his property which might be the house where he and his parents grew up; however this is common practice here in the United States that the Goverment can take away your hose to build Parks, Roads ETC just because it falls into some Architects blue print who decided YOUR hose will best suit HIS plan!!!
In the contrary this sittuation we have a potantial HEILIGEH MUKOIM where one of our nations biggest gdoilem was buried, is this not as important to us as some park which might as well be built 100 feet away….

And I’m quite sure that they will make it wurth its while!!!

I agree with the previous comentor. He was one of the two who went alive to Gan Eden. I would assume that it is a different R’ Yehoshua ben Levi.

I know Mitch, he’s actually a shomer mitzvos and a good guy.
Aside from that, sorry, but everyone dies and leaves a body, no one magically disappears. This chazal is not to taken literally, like many others of the same type.

everyone is forgetting that this guy (which is religious) contacted the Eida Chareidis and they refused to deal with the keiver because Rav Yehoshua Ben Levi never died – he went straight to Heaven.
And that’s why the koifrim will decide …
