New York – Sen. Chuck Schumer yesterday called for sanctions against Britain if there was a “quid-pro-quo” involving the release of the Lockerbie bomber and Libya’s approval of a multibillion-dollar oil deal.

“You can’t allow a vicious terrorist who killed so many to go free after eight years,” the New York Democrat said. “If it is true that there was a quid pro quo — and it hasn’t been proven yet — there ought to be some sanctions against Britain.”
Schumer made his comments after Britain’s Sunday Times reported that convicted bomber Abdel Baset al-Megrahi had been returned to Libya because it was in the “overwhelming interests of the United Kingdom.”
Britain made the decision after talks between Libya and petroleum giant BP over a huge oil-exploration deal hit a snag. The problems were resolved soon after the decision to release Megrahi was made, the newspaper said.
Chuck….leave lockerbee alone and get pollard out….
R you sure that it is Schumer that said this?? Well this is a first WAY TO GO CHUCK!!!
Uh…Chuckie…Sanctions? Did you forget that Britian has UNSC veto power?
He knows this is going nowhere. Anything for attention.
First there was the “freedom fries” and boycott France because they wouldn’t waste billions and blood on meaningless wars in Arab desert, and now boycott the U.K. because they are conducting internal politics. Schumer you’re a smart guy and please don’t make yourself look like a silly premadona of the Senate.
Gentelmen:
I am shocked. Chuck has the ear of the presidant. See how much the two of them are doing for Israel.
Wait what are they doing???? nuttin….well take your finger out of his ear.
Finally I agree with Chuck on something
This was a REALLY stupid statement. For one thing, British and Scottish authorities are both insisting that there was no *quid pro quo*. And even if they are lying, there is no way to impose sanctions on a NATO ally without blowing the entire alliance to smithereens. This is even worse than any of Bush’s “My way or the highway!” foreign policy blunders. Hopefully this will be ignored.
Jusr another excuse for Chuck to get his name and maybe his face in the papers and on the TV news.
