Lakewood, NJ – It’s a tough market for aspiring Jewish singers. It’s not just about talent — it’s about who you know, buzz, and having a great demo. Of course, there’s also the little matter of finding a good composer to write an original track. And a producer to produce it. And then there’s the recording studio fees. And an engineer. Don’t forget distribution. Perhaps a good agent. There’s a reason most guys are discouraged faster than you can say “demo.”

But it may be your lucky day.
Oorah has once again launched its Auditions competition. We’re giving everyone with a voice the chance to be heard. Submissions can be sent either by mail, as an email attachment, or over the phone. Five finalists will be chosen, and the winner will be professionally recorded on the Oorah CD. And with a worldwide circulation in the hundreds of thousands, this is a surefire way to become known.
To enter your submission, call 732-415-7405 or email attachments to [email protected]. Mailed in entries go to: Auditions Dept. c/o Oorah, 1805 Swarthmore Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701.

Thank you for your interest in Oorahs Auditions.
Unfortunately, we will not be accepting any more submissions, as the January 15 deadline has already passed.
All the very best,
Auditions Department
Is this what we (the frum community) want to promote?? Instill in our youngsters to grow up and become a singer?
By the way if you listen to the cd they sent you notice it’s crock the winner is never shown only heard and it’s always somone who is already a preformer working on his own cassete for eg the first winner if I recall was
yanky dasakal who was allready taking profesinal voice lessons as he was allreeady preforming publicley at wedings with the neginah orchostra and he is a first cousien of lipa and he was allready in the process of pruducing his own debut album the second was Sruly werdiger who is a werdigar a son Mendy a singer long before orah and his album was allready being shipt practicly at the time oorah awoke so don’t give me this
second why do all jewsih singers sound so simmler can’t we find a fresh style voicice a diferent beat and style perhaps somthing new refreshing come on if we are doing it let’s do it right and no I’m not a fustrated auditioner couse I have a life and I’m way to old and I bruch hashem I’m just stating the facts as I see them thanks
sounds alot like american idol to me. are we trying to copy the goyim out there?
oorahs great. there are some people that are talented and need an outlet
Ain Lohem Chelek Bolam Habah! They ruin the Neshomos of our GOOD children who become counselors at there camp. Now they are imitating American Idol making Yiddeshe kids aspire to become a super star. Hashem Yerachem!!
Lets send our tzedaka money to oorah so they can help promote a singer. instead of the singer financing his own project lets use tzedaka money for distribution, the engineer, the recording studio fee.. etc. Oorah is right. People dont want to spend money on producing a cd. But when it isn’t your own money – rather it comes from tzedaka then the mosdos become big spenders. I would love if organization like oorah were to disclose their budget and what percentage goes to the actual program and what gets spent on self promotion.
IY”H there sounds like there is hope to replace that nauseating Kars for Kids jingle.
I tgink oorah auditions were first and american idol is copying the oorah CD
