New York, NY – Bloomberg Names New Heads of DEP, Probation

New York, NY – New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is appointing new commissioners to the Environmental Protection and Probation departments.

The environmental protection department will be headed by Caswell Holloway, who was chief of staff to Deputy Mayor Edward Skyler.

The department is responsible for the city’s air and water quality. It also operates the water supply system, processes wastewater and enforces compliance in disposal of hazardous materials.

The probation department will be headed by Vincent Schiraldi. He most recently led Washington, D.C.’s Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services.

The previous environmental protection commissioner left last year and the probation department head left this year.
