Sholom Rubashkin was convicted last month in federal court in Sioux Falls, S.D., on 86 counts. He was charged after an immigration raid at the Agriprocessors plant in Postville in May 2008. A sentencing date hasn’t been set.
Earlier this month, U.S. District Judge Linda Reade upheld her previous decision denying Rubashkin’s request to be released.
Rubashkin’s defense team filed notice with the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to appeal that decision. His attorneys argue Rubashkin is not a flight risk despite concerns by prosecutors.
Why don’t they sentence him already and get it over with…the more they drag it out the worse it is for SMR and all other jewish convicts waiting trial and jail sentences. They are no going to let him free pending appeal so the sooner he goes to prison the sooner he might get out.
Unfortunatly he will be fighting it until the sentancing day, & they are making sure of it. They will let him win when it doesn’t make a difference. I think it is time to put all efforts into the appeal, or reducing the sentance. JMHO. I could be wrong.
Why don’t they hold the Irish, like they do Jews. The Irish are known to run away to Ireland. Look at the Irish mobster from Boston!
We yiddin have to do a mass 100,000 people protest for violating the civil rightsa of Rabbi Ruashkin shlit”a. Yidden let’s wake up now!!! They are against Jewry at awhole.

All he had to do was admit what he did and make a deal with the prosecutors. Unfortunately, he decided to fight it and now he has to pay for what he did.
When we were children, we were told to tell the truth. Looks like SMR did not learn that lesson.
The time that he is incarcerated now will be counted against his sentence as time served.
Interesting… We trust our judicial system in the hands of the Rabbinical Courts.
However, here is a man who was painted (by the media) in such a way that he must have committed all these terrible things.
Wake up! Comment #7 who are you to say that SMR did wrong. Are you SMR?
Funny how we believe the governments judicial system when we are taught to leave them out of it whenever possible. Funny how we believe a group of jurors who WERE NOT ABLE TO HEAR THE FULL STORY IN COURT.
Yeah for sure he is guilty… Right? WRONG!!!!
I would like to see your face when SMR is freed of all charges. Will you go to his doorstep and beg MECHILA???
I hope you will.
Here’s a lesson on Moshiach – He won’t be coming til we all judge each other FAVORABLY!!
An interesting question:
Is there a conflict of interest here for Rubashkin employees working for Agri-Star, and Rubashkin employees of Shtetel, Inc?
One must assume that HF knows of this relationship and is OK with it. But I’m not sure that the terms of sale re Agriprocessor assets are not being muddied by what appears to be an incestuous relationship.
Shtetel, Inc appears to be a marketing arm of Agri-Star by way of interlocking employee relationships. If this situation was not disclosed to the State development authority, then the grants given to Agri-Star may have occurred under (at best) misleading conditions.
