This is an especially attractive service for all Jewish travelers looking for traditional Kosher meals for Hanukkah.
EL AL is getting ready to bring Hanukkah to the skies, by preparing 1,375 potatoes and 6,600 ounces of raspberry jam, and 68 cups of cinnamon to be used in the tasty fried jelly donuts (Sufganiot) and potato pancakes (Latkes). The traditional Jewish recipes will also be offered in premium class lounges around the world.
In addition to serving these Jewish Hanukkah treats on New York flights worldwide, a nightly candle lighting will also take place.
Of what interest is this to the frum velt? They don’t eat El Al’s food anyway.
speak for yourself. I eat it, the mehadrin stuff is horrible!
What about the custard doughnuts?
Will they give tums as well? Happy Channukah
i dont need their doughnuts latkes just they should be a drop more understanding for frum people
What is that brown sauce on the latkes?
i love elal food
what else is on the menu?
this is GEVALDICK…..over the years went ELAL had dificulty they sent pasengers to the local hotels to have nonkosher dinner…..it is so refreshing to have kosher food….potatoes…just like in poland…this is AMAZING…a git gebenched.
how about some chanukah gelt, everybody will take it no matter what hechsher.
So,whats the price for a ticket to get latkas and DONUTS?!
Wow what an amazing thing. Mesiras nefesh mamish. Now we all see that they are really a jewish airline. They are mamish not moving an inch from the mesorah. Gimmi a break. This world is so topsy turby that its almost comical. El al has to be begged not to operate on shabbos but guess what they are REALLY jewish because they are giving latkes. Leave me alone.
So once they heat it up in the TREIF ovens on board the aircraft, the items will be non-kosher. You people who eat the non double wrapped meals are taking your olam haba into your own hands. There is no hashgocha on the plane and THEY DO mess up. Halachikly, you CANNOT rely on the shigsa, shaygitz, or not yet frum, flight attendants
While the meals ‘might’ be prepared kosher, once they bring it on the plane and open the meals, if its fleishig it becomes bossor she’nisalaym min ha’ayin and it is as good as treif.
Go ahead and try to be moreh hetter but you will be the one to roast and toast after 120.
1375 potatoes doesn’t yield that many latkes. I hope El Al is busy enough to make more than 3-4000 latkes.
If they wonto show they are jewish let them be closed on shabes . You are not jewish by eating latkas
Why is it that everytime a news item comes on,the fools come out of the woodwork and have to say something stupid. Syug lechuchmuh shtika, this is not a forum for every idiot that can’t be listened to any place else.
Will the news report every time Elal serves a meal? Who wants frozen, reheated rubber latkes anyway!
i wouldn’t fly el al during chanuka because of the constipation i anticipate due to the latkes.
will they put up sume estra rest rooms on the flights?
I guess you people who eat the ‘regular’ meals from ElAl are not concerned about eating Bosor Shenisalayim Min HaAyin. The OU or any other hashgocha DOES NOT take responsibility for the meals once opened and put in the ovens without hashgocha.
These are facts that CANNOT be disputed no matter how krum your logic may be.
maybe they will have bedatz latkes and donuts so everyone can have
1) El-al offers food under hashgacha that should be good enough for any sane Jew.
2) The last thing my stomach needs on a 9+ hour flight to Israel is latkes…. 🙂
In NY El Al has Glat by REGAL under the Volover, Rabbi N. E. Teitelbaum. A very respected Hechser.
