Dozens of protestors biked through an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood of the Williamsburg section on Saturday fully dressed.

Bike messenger Heather Loop organized the event. She says the lane was removed because the neighborhood’s Hasidic Jews “can’t handle scantily clad women.”

Some Hasids say the issue is not showing leg, but safety for children being dropped off by school buses.

The protestors had said it would ride through the streets without their tops, but wintry weather forced them to stay dressed.

The bikers tactics did not amuse faithful Hasids leaving synagogue services with their families on the Sabbath.

Waiting for someone to say that they prayed a lot on shabbos and Hashem made a miracle for this. And then they will start making up random gemotria between snow and naked bikers and how it’s a message from the zohar, just like Glenn Beck.

It is worth noting that in New York City, it is legal for members of either gender to be in public topless.

A snowstorm may delay this sort of protest, but doesn’t seem likely to end the possibility.

Instead of hate and animosity to the bikers, how about serving hot coffee, tea, and cake? Maybe kugel and soup to warm them? Maybe invite them into your home for Shabbos lunch?
Perhaps kindness and reaching out a friendly hand will win people over, and help reach a live-and-let live agreement of some kind.
Many of these hipsters are Jewish kids who have been turned off to Yiddishkeit. Do you wonder why? When you express mockery and hate towards them, that’s what you get in return. Express kindness, and see what happens. What do you have to lose?

If the protesters can even think of delibertly dressing in a way that they know will offend the majority of people in Williamsburg it shows clearly that they have an ax to grind, are insensitive and are unwillling to make any compromise. They most certainly
should be prevented from getting any accomodation in Williamsberg, I suggest they try taking a walk in an Arab neighborhood dressed in an manner offensive to the neighborhood.
It might result in their learning some”respect” for others.

Hashem is ‘Meshaneh Itim’ & sure did what’s best for us, let’s start doing what’s good in the eyes of Hashem.

maybe hating, fighting & protesting all the time for politics covered up in Yidishkeit issues is not appropriate

These hipsters are our neighbors to stay, they played a role as our friends till now, but unfortunately looks like we’re getting ‘another’ group of enemys in our community…

Though I disagreed with the naked bike ride, you guys need to understand that bicyclists will never go away (and will only increase in number), and that the Bedford Avenue bike lane will return.

One thing was left out of the article. On Wednesday the bikers said that they weren’t going to be naked because they didn’t want to fight with the chasidim. They were protesting against Bloomberg and the city.

Look, lets be realistic as I am also a biker. The people that are leading this protest are Jews that left the main stream and want attention. They are so lost that they are ready to remove their clothing in public. Just think about how low they are? No shame, no privacy, just simply lost and in this loss, because others are better and others have modesty and live a proper lifestyle, it is very hard for them, to accept that others are able to make it. It is a shame and I feel bad for them, because they have nothing left in life, not even their provate parts of their bodies mean anything to them.
Most of the bikers who are following the leaderless leaders are normal caring bikers who have no idea what is going on in the heads of these lost souls.
